About Newark Liberty International Airport
Newark Liberty International Airport is located 16 miles from midtown Manhattan in Essex and Union Counties between the New Jersey Turnpike, U.S. Routes 1 and 9 and I-78. EWR was opened in 1928 and quickly became one of the world’s busiest commercial airports. Today it is the tenth busiest airport in the U.S. serving over 50 airlines and consisting of three passenger terminals: A, B, and C. Terminal A branches out into three circular satellite buildings which contain flight departure lounges and airline passenger service facilities. Terminal B is home to Delta and Northwest Airlines and also has an International Arrivals Facility with 15 international gates capable of processing 3,000 arriving passengers per hour. At Terminal C, Continental’s C3 concourse converted the facility into a three-level terminal with 19 gates, a huge retail area and an additional International Arrivals Facility.
